A quick note from Gary Palumbo, State Representative candidate for Connecticut’s 21st District.

“My name is Gary Palumbo, and I have recently been endorsed by the Farmington Republican Party Town Committee to run for Farmington State Representative - 21st District. I have been a self-employed Jeweler for 42 years and am now retired. I owned Main St. Jewelers in New Britain for 20 years and then moved my business to Unionville. I’ve owned Farmington Jewelers in Unionville for 22 years and live in Farmington in the Highlands neighborhood.

I have served on several boards in town including Town Council (2 Terms, 4 years), Zoning Boards of Appeals, Library Board, Economic Development and the Housing Commission. I am committed to continuing to work to maintain the remarkably high quality of life we enjoy in Farmington. I will work with my colleagues to keep consistent our outstanding standard of life, low taxes, and the excellent services that we cherish–those things that brought us to this town and keep us here.

For many years, I have enjoyed supporting and being involved in many Farmington organizations, fundraisers, religious groups, sports teams, and more through both mybusiness and my personal life. Some of which are Knights of Columbus, Officer (4th Degree), Saint Mary’s Star of the Sea/ Our Lady of Knock-Unionville, Farmington UNICO-Vice President, Prince Thomas of Savoy, Avon.

I hope to bring the perspective of the small business owner community to the State and the perspective of the elderly who came into my business to talk about their struggles to stay in town due to tax increases and other elderly issues.

I have been married to my wife, Amy, for 39 years. She worked for Eversource for 43 years before retiring as a Regulatory Accounting Analyst, was the President of the Farmington Community Chest for nine years, a member of the Unionville Village Improvement Association, Dr. Dunne Scholarship Committee for students in the medical field and UNICO to name a few. Together we have two children, a son Anthony, who is a Registered Respirator Therapist in the ER Dept. and a daughter, Deanna a BSN Nurse working in the ER as well.
